  AKAY Sewing Livelihood

The AKAY Sewing Livelihood is a livelihood program for mothers of AKCDF children who wish to augment their income to support the continuing education of their children. It was started in 2000 in cooperation with AKAY Japan, an NGO of concerned Japanese parents and youth who has been supporting AKCDF since 1989. The program aims to empower women in the community to become productive members of society through skills training and provision of opportunities for livelihood.

AKAY products- which include various kinds of bags, skirts, polo, vests made from native cloth are sold in bazaars organized by AKAY Japan during Mr. Paul Galang’s Japan Concert Tours and other AKAY Japan events throughout the year. In 2004, AKAY Sewing Livelihood started to engage in sewing school uniforms of AKCDF students.
